Aggie Poultry Ambassadors Host Inaugural “Sip & Share” Event
The Texas A&M University Department of Poultry Science successfully launched its new networking initiative, Sip & Share, on Friday, September 19, 2025 at the ScottsMiracle-Gro Facility in College Station.

Sponsored by the Aggie Poultry Ambassadors (APA), the inaugural event brought together Poultry Science students and members of the Department of Poultry Science Advisory Board. Students had a unique opportunity to connect with key industry professionals and stakeholders who play a vital role in guiding the department and supporting its mission.
Shaping Tomorrow’s Poultry Leaders
“Sip & Share was created to give our students an approachable, professional setting to learn from and connect with leaders who are shaping the future of our field,” said Lesley Gleason, Program Manager and APA Advisor. “We were thrilled to see the energy in the room and the meaningful conversations that took place.”
In addition to connecting with industry leaders, Sip & Share also emphasized the importance of peer-to-peer mentorship within the Department of Poultry Science. Experienced Aggie Poultry Ambassadors coached newer students on how to confidently introduce themselves, ask thoughtful questions, and make a strong first impression when meeting professionals. This hands-on guidance not only helped first- and second-year students build confidence in networking settings, but also allowed upperclassmen to practice leadership, communication, and mentorship skills that will serve them well in their own careers.
By fostering both professional and peer connections, Sip & Share underscored the department’s commitment to preparing students for success beyond the classroom, equipping them with the interpersonal tools needed to thrive in the poultry industry and beyond.

Who are the Aggie Poultry Ambassadors?
The Aggie Poultry Ambassadors organization traces its history back to 2005. Originally established as the Aggie Leadership Council, the group was renamed in 2021 to credit its connection to poultry science. Today, APA encourages leadership among students, represents the department at recruitment functions, and serves as a student voice at poultry industry events.
