Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist – Poultry Processing, Product Quality, Food Safety
The Department of Poultry Science at Texas A&M University is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist with expertise in poultry processing, product quality, and food safety. This position will support both commercial and small-scale/niche poultry producers through applied research, educational programming, and stakeholder outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and deliver Extension programs, workshops, and training materials (e.g., HACCP, food safety, processing methods).
• Conduct applied research in poultry product quality, safety, and value-added processing.
• Collaborate with agents, faculty, and industry partners to address stakeholder needs.
• Publish scholarly work and pursue external funding opportunities.
• Mentor graduate students and participate in youth and academic programming.
Qualifications:
• Required: Ph.D. in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Food Science, or related field.
• Preferred: Experience in poultry processing or post-harvest food safety, HACCP certification, and a record of outreach, publication, and grant activity.

Tenure-Track: Assistant Professor – Poultry Nutrition
The Department of Poultry Science at Texas A&M University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in poultry nutrition and diet formulation. This position will support both commercial and small-scale/niche poultry producers through applied research, educational programming, and stakeholder outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop research programs in one or a combination of areas related to poultry nutrition, including but not limited to programs in broiler, broiler breeder, layer, or turkey nutrition, feed processing, growth biology, climate-smart agriculture, and gastrointestinal nutrient digestibility.
• Support current AgriLife strategic priorities for achieving resilience in food systems and the integration of basic and applied research
• Develop a strong extramurally funded program and mentor graduate and undergraduate students
• Teach courses in fundamental poultry nutrition and diet formulation
Qualifications:
• Required: Ph.D. in Nutrition from an accredited institution in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Nutrition, or closely related disciplines, and demonstrated evidence of expertise, scholarship, and mentoring experience in a relevant domain.
• Preferred: At least two years of post-PhD experience in a research position, with evidence of grantsmanship, teaching/mentoring experience, and a roadmap of future research over the decade. Demonstrated ability to use modeling approaches to describe or estimate nutritionally dependent processes or requirements. Demonstrated record of communicating research through different academic and non-academic channels. Demonstrated record of working with people of different backgrounds.
